Well… I am sorry it has been a little while, my updates are not as frequent as they used to be years ago. Life keeps on being busy, taking all my time… But I do try my best to at least smell the roses every now and then. If you wondered, I am still delivering some magic where real magic begins! I can’t complain, I have a boss that keeps dropping by and is very into the Rebel Alliance!

It’s been a year and a half since my journey at Disney. I am very grateful for this, and I can definitively say that my life was saved my the mouse. Our sudden move to Florida faced different types of challenges, but it has been thanks to the mouse that our lives has gained some sort of stability. It is all bittersweet, as the main reason for us being here is not having my oldest daughter with us here on Earth… The new beginning was forced by her sudden departure. We will never be the same thanks to it… The show must go on, and it goes on bearing the deepest sadness in my heart but a smile in my face and the hope that one day we will all be together again… forever.

I always dreamt of Disney. Everyone that knows me know the fact that I love animation, and as any drawing/painting artist who love animation, one of the biggest dreams that I have is to work in that specific area… I love Disney, and all the values that it stands for. I love the dream of the legend we all know as Walt.

I was 7 years old when I had my 1st trip to Disney. I remember having a Pirates of the Caribbean hat that stuck with me for the whole trip! I have fond memories of my small family, a picture painted forever in my heart of the three of us together. I was raised by my uncle and my aunt, and little did I knew that this trip would be the highlight of what my childhood was. Years later they divorced… The promised second trip for my high school graduation did not happen… But I did return years later for a 2nd trip, with my best friend… 20 years later.

And then for a 3rd trip, celebrating my honeymoon. My 4th time should have been my daughter’s Make a Wish, but she didn’t make it… A year after her passing that 4th visit came true, celebrating the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween… and my joining the eCommerce area as Cast Member… And the same moment marked by my daughter’s 1st angel anniversary. So many mixed emotions… Yest one thing was very certain: Somehow it all made sense because of her. I work everyday surrounded by her favorite things… And by my favorite things. Everyday her dream comes alive within me, as my own do as well. I keep on in hopes of achieving our dream.

Her little sister, my husband and I keep on swimming, as we have to… It is not swimming without pain or without challenges… But it is swimming surrounded by the wings of an angel that smiles each time that we smile.  We enjoy her gift for now… and the blessings that one mouse has given us… The blessings of being a small family, surviving together, finding hope in a little star that always shine on us and guides our way.

Because we all know what happens when you wish upon a star…

New Flight

The phoenix begins its journey after it consumed itself in its fire… It had to be reborn. In an unlikely turn of events, the path has led towards a mythical place that had become by now part of what it thought was just a dream.

I am now part of the happiest place on Earth…  I now belong where the Magic begins! I am surrounded by everything I have always loved, everything that somehow has shaped my whole life.

It all has been a strange sequence of events. Right now all leads towards a path filled with windows and doors. Let’s see if ultimately the artiste and techie finds her true destiny after all… One step at a time, but never stopping!

Courses at library

Besides working with the orange people, I’ve been taking advantage of the days in which I don’t work to brush up on the basic programs that I know but that I have not used in more than a year. So far I’ve taken QuickbookPlus, HTML5, Powerpoint2010, and Word2010. I brought along my dear hubby so he gets some certificates to start-up his new IT binder. All in all it has been a good idea, getting what has changed in the programs (little things that make life easier). It seems we all did tings the hard way some years ago… all is automated now. The trend towards faster is great… the part about automated mindlessness is what is a bit… unfortunate. Anyone that doesn’t have the right abilities can give a perfect impression thanks to these automated perks… Which leads to the main reason why so many so-called professionals… are not.

Anyway, next in line are Access, Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator. I know the older versions, so I am really looking forward to the new stuff. No matter how seasoned you are, there’s always something new to learn.

Job search still ongoing. Always fishing… hoping something good comes before the final countdown.

The Silver Lining…

Well, the new “orange” adventure has been something after all. I never had a job in which I did not had to “think too much”, and now I can see why so many people that live working in them choose to do so for so many years… Not having all the responsibility over your shoulders and simply doing the best you can exactly as expected can be in a way liberating. All you have to do is focus your attention on the customer, and smile. No big dramas at work, and although everyone has their own situation there is a sense of camaraderie that is comforting… I am happy about that, as it takes away the big stress that one has most of the time when it comes to the pressures at work… And I am happy to see a company that do so much community work without bragging about it. So far what I have seen is people who love their jobs and their company and would do anything to see it soar in success. All I have seen in government and in manufacturing is plenty of politics (strategic climbing) and little care for the customers, and even less for employees… which translate to employees caring very little about their tasks and achieving goals. I hope that time keeps showing me that it is possible to find a place where you can just breathe and be in peace.

The search for a full time job is still going. I don’t give up, but I am very tired and the surroundings in which I must persevere are not encouraging. Right now me, my husband, and our 2 year old are living in a shelter for homeless people. The stress is very high as there is no certainty of what tomorrow may bring… no certainty of a roof over our heads in a few days, no certainty of anything… We have been as graceful and grateful as we can be, trying our best to smile through it all. This was not our fault, we have been victims of bad timing and unfortunate events… When this happens to professionals who really have not wasted time or money, who are useful and talented, it becomes quite a burden. We don’t understand the reason behind this “experience’, but we do know that something will be learned from it. After Deirdre’s death it all has spiraled down, and it all has turned into blow after blow after blow. We get up again… We take the dust off… We keep walking. We keep fighting. We smile once again…

I have never let anything stop me from achieving my ultimate goals. My whole personal situation is frustrating, but each time I open my eyes in the morning I thank God, get my chin up, and face the day with a smile. I keep faith that soon our situation will change, the right work will show up after so much searching… and we will have the happy ending we deserve. I know we will have a happy ending, somehow.

Training, training…

Well, this week I officially began the “being orange” training. I am very surprised at all the details on the videos, it really shows why they lead a very successful business. The working environment is positive and I am quite confident that perhaps this is the new way that I actually need.

Nothing has been easy… Job security has been the quest as my little one needs that security (a promise of a future). Many sacrifices… Right now being at the homeless shelter proves to be the right choice in matters that we can get the help we need to stand again… We try to see the positive and dismiss the negative… there is no point in complaining. We hope this is a stay of less than 90 days in which we get to do what we must, get basics rolling, and we win at the end. In the long run this is nothing, a minimal chapter of our lives in which we stayed together and our small family prevailed. We wished that the main event that triggered everything had not happened…

The reality of Deedee not being physically with us is brutal and offers no consolation… Nothing is right about it. Our lives will forever have a big hole… All the other things that have happened are just little unfortunate events that are nothing compared to not having her with us. That is what makes us go on. We gave everything for Dee… now we must give everything for little Kali. There is no stopping… We are tired, we feel sad, we grieve at every moment, but we also smile because we know that’s exactly what Deedee would want us to do. We must live life to the fullest, as she did. Our inspiration is always our north star, who keeps shining up above so she leads us through these trying times…
